Do black men hate black women part 3 or is it the media turning us agaianst each other.

When I check my site hits, there are a couple of searches that frequently led to hits for this blog. One is blacks or African-Americans who travel abroad of which I am very proud of the fact that many people are interested in blacks who travel or study abroad. The other search which brings a lot of hits to this blog is "do black men hate black women".

I sometimes wonder if this is the work of the media that we absorb and then interpreted or transscribe as the gospel. Increasingly in movies and television, black male characters are shown with non black girlfriends and wives. So much so, that many black actress are suffering. Hollywood is not a female friendly place to begin with, but add in the natural tan and your chances of finding quality work sharply decreases. Tonight I watched Mad TV and two of the skits featured black males with white wives and IR were not apart of the skit. Most black men do not marry white women, interracial marriages between black and whites in this country are rare. So why are black women being squeezed out of Hollywood and why are so many black men filled with dislike and hatred for black women.

Today, there are a number of blacks who work at all levels in the music bussiness. If you think black music executives don't play a large role in the fact that almost all black pop singers who receive major promotion look similar to Beyonce(I stan), think again. In a number of interviews and articles on the changing face of the music business a number of blacks in music business have made the statement that the reason most African-American female entertainers are light-skinned is because white people can relate to them more thereby helping the artist to sell more records.

This is absolutely the biggest piece of BULLSHIT to ever fall out of the mouth of a black person. We can not blame white people for everything, and this is certainly an example of the backwards thinking of many black people. In the eighties two of the biggest black pop talents where medium brown caramel colored Janet Jackson and Jodey Watley. Both of these women sold a lot of albums and had international success. If you think that only black people brought their albums you are a fool. Llikewise, go to youtube and pull up any video of Dianna Ross and Tina Turner in concert and you will see plenty of white people in the audience. How the hell do you think they are able to sell out arenas??? Anybody remember Lauryn Hill ten years ago, whites could not get enough of her music, including Hill's look and natural hair.

Don't believe the hype, if anything, white Americans are picking up on the backwardness of color struck black people and are now looking at us threw the lenses that we provide. In a way, I believe many black people have a touch of Stockholm's syndrome as a result of slavery and colonialism. We seel to look like the people whose ancestors enslaved us.

Until I started to read the blogs of other black women online, I had no idea that so many black women are unhappy with their looks. A few of the common themes I notice over and over his how black men don't like the natural texture of our hair, dark skin or flat nosees blah blah blah. I don't have a problem with our beauty, maybe it's because I have been approached by all types of people and have told that I am nice looking or maybe it's because I like to look at high fashion magazines where beauty is much more diverse. What's ugly in downtown Baltimore is considered beautiful in the high fashion world.

This is also why it is important for us to have our own publications where we showcase a wide range of black beauty. When we see high fashioned black models like Alec Wek, Sessilee Lopez and Atong in advertisements we must write emails or letters to the advertisers thanking them for using said model. Black women should also be conscious of the way they talk about the texture of our hair, facial features, and skin color around our children because they learn a lot from us.
Speaking of skin color, rapper Young Berg, the idiot who made a rap song using a medley/beat from a jig
made it know during an interview that he does not find dark-skinned black women attractive, calling them "black butts". He went on to say that he can not date any woman darker than himself and he is as light as Beyonce. Listen here, for yourself.

That said, look at the men in the video below, what could make them have so much hatred for black women. These brothers are older and to hear them talk about black women is this way is very frightening. One of the men(?) said "I can't wait until we can cut these black bitches throats/heads off" WHAT? If they can hate us like this no wonder Dumbar village happened. This is not so safe for work so turn it down or listen with headphones.

jacked the vid from happy nappyhead.

"This is absolutely the biggest piece of BULLSHIT to ever fall out of the mouth of a black person". The statements were wild and full of sh*t, but, there are worst things to be said. However, that is the way of those at the top. They will say whatever they need to in order to stay where they are or go further. There is only one way that I know of to end it - boycott of their product. We must first find out who's who and then follow what they produce and subsequently stop buying the bullsh*t.

"That said, look at the men in the video below, what could make them have so much hatred for black women."

While it's good to get info, I only watched about four minutes of the tape, too much nonsense. Unfortunately, it is from videos like this that helps put Black women down. We see it and then pass it around. I suppose by showing it, it has more impact. Personally, I would have rather heard you describe the situation instead of the free publicity and "furtherance" that they will receive. Brothers like that need to be run out of town. Neither here nor there.

I don't know why SOME Black men hate Black women. I'm not one of them. I cherish the ground that you walk on - light, dark, plump, fat, skinny, short, tall - I love you all. We must stop listening to the music that puts Black women down. We have to boycott it. We have to write letters, blog about it, pass the word on.

In the event that you missed it - I, Black man, love you - Black woman, heart and soul and for forever. Peace.

Me Personally? I get nothing but love from Black men... who seem excited to see my hair in its natural form. I once had a man exclaim loudly to a white woman putting money in a meter, as I exited a building, "Now THAT'S a sistah! She can DRESS too. You look GOOD!"
And another ask me: "Did anybody tell you are the ORIGINAL Black Woman? You look beautiful!"

Perhaps it's age? Perhaps it's environment? Perhaps it's a huge gap between those with common sense and self worth and those without? In any event, I didn't watch the video or clink on the link. I agree that passing this type of garbage around perpetuates the stupidity.

Men who self-hate or criticize a darker-skinned woman for her appearance have extremely low self worth and low self esteem. It's pathetic, their hate for themselves couldn't be MORE OBVIOUS, and it's a sad trainwreck to watch, really. It's too bad.

Stockholm's syndrome indeed. So sad but all across the globe, some African people have been reconditioned to see themselves as inferior...n***er women ain't shit...said a man who probably considered himself a n***er...
The best answer to a fool is silence but the best antidote to foolishness is education. We as parents and people have to educate the people in our sphere of influence about how we are all God's creatures fearfully and wonderfully made. It's going to be a long hard road, but it's the only way forward.

Being in the beauty business I have realised that the media is so influential. The reason for this is the tastemakers (editors, advertisers, publishers, reporters, vjays, movie directors, writers etc) each group decides what they think people will like or what they consider will give them an edge in getting acceptance, in the West (USA,Europe) the images are white first of all basically because they have to please their audience and it moves down the line.

A number of men are exposed to these images first and consistently and this creates their taste and prefrences. Like food. I once met a man who was in Milan for a business trip and said he would never go back there because he hated the food. Its about exposure you will find someone else who loves Italian food and its because he/she has been exposed to Italian food.

In the early days of Colour T.V technically, light skinned models were prefered because they could be seen easily. Its only now with alot of technology that it is much easier to achieve great results with darker skinned models.

I also think that having a lot of self confidence and looking sophisticated makes a whole lot of difference and the images you see in some parts of the world of men and women are not complimentary except you are fortunate to be part of the glamour or corporate world.

I use myself as an example before an event those who see me in preparation cant recognise me once I have to get on stage but this is because I understand the power of the right image.

Its very complicated because human beings are ruled by so many biases, influences, cultural affiliations, etc. and media is so powerfull and influential.

Wow too long!

You should be concerned because he's the a$$hole making big bucks and passing his stupidity on to his fans. We should be monitoring all of them and not support them by CD purchases, concerts, votes in awards polls, etc. Turning a blind, ignorant (unknowing) eye doe not help our decaying society.

I watched the video, and it has emptied my mind. These men are so HATEFUL! SO damn HATEFUL! Why? What the hell the use of going through one's life like that?

Luscious Librarian said...

This video sounds very homoerotic. "Nothing brings out manliness than the company of women" "A [woman]is the seat of wickedness", and I bet you money that heterosexism is the bedfellow of sexism.

It's sad, but the oppression that some black men feel is often repackaged and pushed down to black women. Instead of liberating themselves and all people to gain power they get to feel a quick high from ruling over, subjugating and outright abusing black women.

What happened to loving kindness? Is that not a tenet of the God they serve? I couldn't watch anymore than the first 2 minutes.

I must say that this blog interested me due to the content. I am a black woman who is very aware of the suffering of our black race in regards to intimate relations with one another.

I found this video to be very comical in its lunacy, its blind miinterpretation of the bible. I am not Christian, one of the reasons is that soo many peoples of many diverse backgrounds use it as a platform of hatred. Using the bible in one hand and cursing in the other, these knuckle dragging invidiuals need AA! However, in finding the sheer magnitude of ignorance that these so called "men" spit, it is so obvious that they are suffering from self hatred in the worst way. They all look homely and just plain ol nasty, no black woman would even want them. IN regards to the comments on "killing black women", these "brotha's" should be VERY CAREFUL who they threaten, sistah's by far are no slouches in terms of protecting ourselves or our daughters!
I felt that this was more than a blatant attempt at black women bashing but also an underhanded layer of homosexual desires from these men. They suffer from a lack of true self love and maybe a desire to be with one another.
I find their rhetoric insulting to us as black women, who would want to have THEM as apart of OUR RACE?? Embarrassing.

I wish all the Sistah's well and mo' peace.

It may not be that black men hate black women. It may just be that black men hate AMERICAN women.

Chinedu Opara said...

I wanna give a big phat HIGH-FIVE to Terrence (right above me).

I find that American[ized] women are just the worst, basically. Many of my buddies - good, sweet, honest, hardworking men - found lots of sex, dating, Love, and started nuclear families with offshore women (Mexico, Brazil, south east Asia, Africa, eastern Europe). Me, I'm planning to do the same.

F*ck this rat race for American Women. I hope they continue to Empower/Womens-Lib themselves right out the gene pool.
