I'm a Brazilian Woman!

You have no idea how the number of guys who I've told I am from Brazil. It is so funny to see their reactions. Some men will become so excited when they here this. I think I go from an eight to ten simply by uttering that I am from Brazil. Am I really from Brazil, no, but I like to change my identity when I am meeting someone new(usually a man) at times. It is so interesting to see their reactions based on where I say I am from. I have also been known to say I am from Ethiopia from time to time. That seems to pull them too, but nothing makes them want to lick my feet like saying I am from Brazil.
I once told a Naija guy who tried to date me that I am from Brazil. Man, was old boy happy. He went around telling or should I say bragging to his friends that he had a Brazilian woman. He was hella angry when I told him that I am really African-American(I left out the Nigerian blood). I mean he screamed and shouted about my "lie" like it was the worst thing on earth. I could think of things that I could of lied to him about, that are ten times worst. I notice that African-American men in particular have a fascination with Brazilian women. I think it has only grown more intense since many rap videos are now shot with Brazilian women as the "bootyshakers" of the week.
In the September or August issue of Essence magazine their was an article about African-American men who travel to Brazil to have sex with Brazilian prostitutes. All of the men talked about the extraordinary beauty of Brazilian women. One guy mentioned that he liked having a table full of dimes(10s) give him so much of attention and treat him like a king. A few other men talked about how much they enjoyed not having to lift a finger in the house(cooking and cleaning) and how Brazilian women know how to be "women". I have a question, why do men think women are suppose to do all of the cooking and cleaning. Why can't they lift a finger to help. It is hard for many women to do all of the house work when they have to work a 40 hour week just as their husband does. Why can't the husband help out. A number of the men talked about the fact that they did not have to deal with the whining and nagging that they received from American women. Many of the men interviewed were married or had girlfriends. Ladies, if your man tells you that he is taking a trip to Brazil, don't let him go without you. Although, some of the guys talked about using condoms the author of the article mentioned that many of the women have had children with African-American men.
A number of the prostitutes who were interviewed basically said that they made more money selling "booty" than what they would make at a nine to five. Some of the women had children who they needed to take care of, and since there was no husband around, they chose to make quick money selling their bodies. One of the women bragged about how she can call up a few of her prior customers and get money whenever she needs it .
I think the article made the African-American men interviewed look childish and spoilt. Can they not see that these women are just using them. Maybe they can but, I've come to realize that men are so easy to get along with, for the most part they don't require much just some good pu#$y, good food, and you need to be willing to listen to problems + give him a pat on the back and tell him that everything will be okay. If you can do those four things you will have him(to an extent) and, that is why the prostitutes in Brazil are so successful with African-American men.

This is the video that started the obsession with Brazil in the hip hop community.

Well I think it is bad to think all men need women to cook and clean and work. I can't recall ever being with a Brazilian but I have been an islander or two!!!!
Anyway I think that if the man believes she should cook and clean then she shouldn't have to work

I was thoroughly outraged at the Essence article. The brothas went on and on about how great Brazilian women are vs. american black women. I found myself screaming at the page because BROTHAS WERE PAYING FOR THIS TREATMENT...SO OFCOURSE THEY ARE GOING TO TREAT Y'ALL LIKE KINGS. I too, would be bending over backwards if I didn't have nar' a chicken bone and some american dude promised to pay my way....are u kidding me? Sorry for my tangential-semi-blog... :)

@ so wise sista- exactly
@ bougie female- your welcome
@ sex and the sushi- Thanks again.
@ttd- A little or enough to fool these idiots. I'm golden brown( the lighter side of brown) in complexion. My hair in its natural state is on the curly side.
@Sonya- I have a booty, its about the size of most of those chics in the video. The booty that I wish I had belongs to Melissa Ford or Buffie the Body.
@js- Thank you, I don't understand why men think women are suppose to be their maids.
@lovelyjd- Not problem. I felt the same way. I used to work with a guy who told me about this a few years ago. Essence just blew the cover off of the lid.

I didn’t read the Essence article, why bother right? From what I’ve read here it’s more of the same old blame game that black folk (Yes men and women!) use to justify their bad behavior. I‘ve experienced this same kind of foolishness though. If I start out speaking Spanish to a man then I’m some sort of exotic creature. The crazy questions about where I’m from begin because you know I just couldn’t have studied the language, I had to have learned it naturally through my supposed Latina heritage right? Anyway, once the black guy finds out I’m just plain old, every day, black girl the interests level plummets! Conversely, men who are already Spanish speakers, or any other foreign language for that matter, think it’s a turn on that I can communicate with them in that way. They have almost no interest in me until I pull out El EspaƱol. Why? Because that sets me apart from the other “plain old, every day, black girls” they meet. It’s all a bunch of bullshit racism/self-hate but we continue to play into those stereotypes of what we, and others, should be. I’m happy to see you Ladies aren’t falling for the banana in the tailpipe though. ;) Good job!

I thought it was Pharell and Snoop's video. But other races have been going to Brazil for centurires and it heated up after the movie 'Black Opherus' in the late 50'S. Now I would not go to a country just to pursue sexual gratifcation but there is a schism we will not talk about in Afro- American life between black men and women. A minority of black men are going there for sex and the article (like many of esscence articles on BM in the last few years)like another one of this month's issue where a young Brotha says he perfers white women but will marry a BW later when he is ready. (yeah right)these days is bash Black American Men at every opprounity.

I just wish Esscence Magazine would just be honest about it's modern mission. Even though it is a magazine for BW,I have sensed that in the last 3-5 years it has gone on a bash black males manifesto at every opprounity I think it should be a magazine that it wants to be, celebrating Black Women and IR relationships amongst it's black starlets and sucessful Black Women to encourage them to explore their options. Just don't bash black american men (or write about us when you do)The esscence I used to read to try and understand Black Women's needs is dead.

Please write about Keri Washington and her white husband, and Serena Williams and Bret Ratner and sucessful black Women and their white (or other race sposues)and the only 6 'good' black men worth having because we can't measure up to.....

Denzel
Jamie
Will
Terrence
Hill
Don

honoary mention
Forrest

Because the rest of those 'no good brothas' are chasing after

fat, smelly white women

or going to brazil to get 'dimes'

want to be 'catered' to

rapping about black women being those two bad words!!!

Great write up. I read the article on Essence, and I was not surprised since I have friends who make the trip yearly, and i have seen the pictures they bring. As for men getting excited about you being from Brazil - its about trophies. A guy will definitely get a pat on the shoulder if he says he scored with a brazilian babe. Him being mad about the lie is all about his ego..., and damn u can image what he had to tell his buddies whne they ask about his brazilian babe.

Truth is relationships have become abit complicated among black folks and particularly in America. You guys cost as much if not more than the brazilian woemn. You just don't quote your price upfront. I have been to countries where prostitution is legal, and trust me, its fulfilling when u know you have paid for the services.

Great write up. I read the article on Essence. I was not surprised since I have friends who make the trip yearly, and i intend to do likewise. As for men getting excited about you being from Brazil - its our ego, image - more like a woman bragging to her friends about he Gaban black dress or whatever the hot designer is. Men still think like hunters (stone age). A guy will definitely get a pat on the shoulder from his pals if he says he scored with a brazilian babe. As for hime being being mad about the lie is all about his ego.... U can image what he has to tell his buddies when they ask about his brazilian babe.

One nite is cheap than a car note in America or rent

I came across this site and just had to comment. It's pretty ironic how sistas are not only dating interracially but are being encouraged to do so by the essence man bashing cabal.

And for the record what happened to all of the drama surrounding how stella got her groove back. its a well established fact that the caribbean is a popular getaway (male whore paradise) for black women. Where's the outrage???

Referencing the comment about brothas bringing back diseases. The caribbean has astronimical STD rates and corresponding black tourist traffic than Brazil. REAL TALK!!!

Has it ever occurred to sistas that men in general prefer any level of exotic appeal? I think the real issue is that most Black women don't understand MEN! Which is why they have these really skewed points of view about Black men. I encourage sistas to date interracially to come to the realize that men are men.

You know why black men prefer brazilian and dominican women? becuz they are fly as hell!!! Discounting exotic appeal, I've never met women with such a comfort level with being a women and all of the things that it entail, in appearance, style, and demeanor.

In truth many brazilian and dominican women look fairly similar to blk american women, facial features & body type.

The difference is that brazilian women take care of themselves and are comfortable with their sexuality.
